Abby Lee Miller hints Season 5 of Dance Moms could be her last

Hailing from a Georgia town that redefines small, Sabienna started reading at a young age as a means of vacationing from the quaintness of her surroundings. A short time after she discovered her love of books, she started writing and has...

If Abby Lee Miller had her way, Dance Moms would be a very different show

Abby Lee Miller reveals Dance Moms Season 6 may be in trouble.

Dance Moms' Abby Lee Miller is not thrilled with the direction her hit Lifetime show is going in. With the back half of Season 5 yet to air, Season 6 is in jeopardy. Miller told Entertainment Tonight she is growing weary of the constant altercations that have become the show's biggest draw. Due to one such altercation at a competition, Miller told ET she was kicked out by the producers, which will result in Miller not appearing in at least one episode in the final run of Season 5 outings. "I left and I didn't come back... There's about one week that I just wasn't there," Miller told ET. "And I thought, 'You know what? If they can do it without me, do it without me.'"

What does this mean for fans of the show? While it seems unlikely Miller will leave, she certainly appears to be frustrated with the current state of Dance Moms. Miller is looking for more pay from Lifetime, but she also wants to change the direction of the show. She clearly feels passionately about the show focusing more on the kids and less on all of the fighting with the moms. The moms have become reality stars themselves thanks to the show, so Lifetime does not have much incentive to change course now, but Miller's desire to get back to basics comes from a good place.

"I post an Instagram, I could probably have, no lie, 500 kids here within five hours, on one Instagram. It's the kids that watch our show," she told ET. "So I wish that the network would realize that, and the production company would back off the moms and the swearing and the fighting and all that, and let's concentrate on the dancing."

If Miller got her way, Dance Moms would be a very different show, one that would not fit into the Lifetime formula. Just because it would not fit the formula does not mean it would not be a worthwhile show, though. If salary negations fall through, it is possible Miller could leave before Season 6. As always, Miller is candid with her opinions. The question is whether Miller or the fighting with the moms is the bigger draw. If it is the moms, then a Season 6 without Miller seems like a distinct possibility.
