The real story behind Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris' love affair

Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift were set up by an unexpected celeb

Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris were set up by a surprise celeb who thought they'd be great together because, well, they're both tall.

Fellow singer Ellie Goulding revealed to the U.K. newspaper The Sun that she was the driving force behind the couple's new romance.

"I did play matchmaker, that's true," Goulding revealed. "Calvin is a really great mate and he's so fantastic, and Taylor is such a cool person who I love. I thought, 'They're both really awesome and both really tall, they'll be brilliant together."

Good to know if Goulding decides she doesn't want to sing anymore, she has a promising career as a matchmaker! The two celebs have been together since February after meeting for the first time at the 2015 Brit Awards in London. According to an E! source, Harris "was immediately smitten."

From there, the new couple was seen over the next few months getting cozy at a Haim concert, during the 2015 Wango Tango show and out and about at Whole Foods, among other sightings.

While the two have yet to speak publicly about dating, their PDA at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards pretty much confirmed that the relationship is a go.

Not to mention, Harris has already met Swift's brother — and they all seem to be getting along great.

And while Goulding seems to be happy to set her friends up, she isn't necessarily OK with the public knowing everything about her love life.

In an interview with Elle UK she explained, "I find it so frustrating that female musicians are constantly defined by the men they have or haven't dated. It's something I've talked about with [Taylor Swift] a lot. She definitely feels that. She gets bothered by it. It's like, you can be a great artist, you can write great songs, but the thing that everyone is going to talk about is some relationship they think you have had or not had. It's definitely something we both think happens to female artists over male artists."
