Ahead of this year's Academy of Country Music Awards, where they're nominated for Vocal Duo of the Year, we sat down with Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney of Dan + Shay to find out who they wish they could collaborate with, how famous they hope to become and more. Check it out.
Dan Smyers: Country music fans are extremely passionate and loyal. It seems that country artists have longer-lasting careers because the fans stick with the artists through thick and thin. We are extremely thankful for the support the country community has shown us so far and can’t wait to share more of the journey with them.
DS: We’d love to collaborate with Rihanna or 50 Cent.
DS: Gotta roll with it! I’d be anxious to check my Twitter account afterwards.
Shay Mooney: I would make out right back!
DS: We want to reach as many people as possible with our music. The sky is the limit! Hopefully we can start touring internationally soon.
DS: The most defining moment was hearing our song on the radio for the first time. You experience all the steps of the process from writing a song, to recording it, to mixing it, to mastering it, and when you finally hear it on the radio, it is fully validating!
DS: Trying to pick songs for our albums! We write so many songs, it is difficult to narrow them down.
DS, SM: Animal rescue!
DS: Miranda Lambert! She not only has amazing music, but she is an awesome role model for females and rescues lots of animals!
DS: Be confident and comfortable with yourself. If you know us, we are definitely not shy, and never try to be anything we are not. No matter what anyone tells you, you are perfect, just the way you are. Thanks, Bruno Mars!
