Well, sort of.
The hitmaker announced Friday he's taking to the popular hookup app to try something totally new: It's where he'll debut the upcoming video for his song "Want to Want Me," which will drop March 23.
It's not a totally unprecedented idea — music videos have already debuted on SnapChat, another popular app. Derulo told Us Weekly he picked Tinder because of its serious up-and-coming status in the technology world.
"Social media and dating together is the new wave," he explained to the mag. "It is the source of one-half of the relationships in 2015, and I’m all about being part of the new wave."
OK, we can see that being legit. But what about actually using the app for its intended purpose? Will Derulo be doing any swiping any time soon? It's unlikely, he said. Despite his recent split from singer Jordin Sparks, Derulo admitted to Us Weekly he doesn't actually use Tinder... yet.
"I would if it wasn't so unpredictable," he said. "I'd probably meet some huge fans, but otherwise it's not a safe bet. Maybe if they come up with a version of Tinder for celebrities, then I would do it. I do think it is a beautiful thing and works."
Bad news for all of us who would totally swipe right on Derulo (who are we kidding, that's all of us).
Unlike SnapChat, though, Tinder doesn't really have any sort of video viewing feature built in, which makes us wonder exactly how Derulo is going to pull this off. Lucky for him, we're more than willing to keep swiping until we figure it out.
