4 Reasons The Bachelor's Jade Roper is so much more than her porn stint

Sarah grew up in Monterey, CA and now lives in Los Angeles. When she's not writing, you can find her enjoying a good book, fine wine, sunflowers and long walks on the beach.

Here's why we (and you) shouldn't care about The Bachelor's Jade Roper's controversial past

The new season of The Bachelor is two episodes in and the dirt-digging has already been kicked into high gear.

Several outlets have reported that Season 19 contestant, Jade Roper, has a laundry list of illegal activity, including a past doing X-rated films, and have questioned if this season's Bachelor, Chris Soules, should even consider her for a final rose. Is it fair to judge Roper by this information? Probably not. Is it easy to when all of it is laid out for us on the internet? Definitely.

However, if you take a closer look at the allegations against Roper, it all seems so minor. The illegal activity includes some misdemeanor underage alcohol charges and petty theft that involved an incident with a former roommate. Not exactly things from the past to be proud of, but not necessarily illicit activity that should affect the rest of a person's life or cause a man to decide he doesn't want a future with her.

Roper's X-rated venture was a stint with Playboy and she addresses the experience directly on her blog. "'Playboy is the iconic essence of female beauty,' says Jade, proud," it reads. "'I've always wanted to be part of it.'" Let's be real, Playboy has served as a springboard for the careers of countless female celebs. So why bash Roper for going this route?

We get that people want to know more about the personalities they are watching on TV. Now that social media and the internet have become an integral part of our culture, we feel that it's our right to know every ounce of information possible about everyone who enters our world. Mostly because, well, the internet has made it possible.

Though the web is great in so many ways and provides us with information that is beneficial, it also gives as access to details that might actually be skewed and counterproductive. Roper's situation serves as a prime example. The information leaked, whether factual, inaccurate or blown out of proportion, can paint a picture that, when taken out of context, may skewer a perfectly fantastic person.

While some may be homing in on the seemingly pornographic and criminal aspects of Roper's past, they're overlooking some great things about the Bachelor contestant, like:

1. She's got a work ethic

She graduated with honors from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, which I know for a fact is no small feat. She then went on to open her own wedding cake business and has also started her own natural beauty company, Naturally Jade Cosmetics.

2. She wants to give back

Naturally Jade Cosmetics gives back $1 of every product purchased to financially assist a woman diagnosed with cancer, according to the company's website. She also recently worked with the Festival of Hope Foundation, which assists cancer patients in western Nebraska and eastern Wyoming.

3. She's wonderfully supportive of other women

Roper doesn't get catty on social media about her Bachelor competitors; in fact, she often posts nice things in support of them. She also recently posted in support of Sia, after the singer's "Elastic Heart" came under fire.

4. She's a positive person

Ugly things are being said about Roper, but she's not about to dish it back. She seems at peace with herself and that's a beautiful thing.

I like this. #keepon
