The Australian rapper took to Twitter on New Year's Eve to inform fans via a series of tweets that she would soon be working on her second studio album. But while she's super excited to be heading back to work, she also has to take things a little easier in the new year.
Why? Because Azalea revealed that in December she was diagnosed with temporomandibular joint dysfunction, more commonly known as TMJ. TMJ is the medical term for a disorder that causes pain and dysfunction in the jaw, which can seriously affect Azalea considering she makes her money by being a rapper.
I'm back to work on my second album next week... Anxious to get going on it. The excited kind of anxious.— IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) December 31, 2014
Also last month I was diagnosed with TMJ which isn't the best.— IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) December 31, 2014
I'm gonna make more of an effort to take care of myself in 2015, stay away from all the drama & hopefully not have any flair ups.— IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) December 31, 2014
I don't think western medicine all the way acknowledges what a huge toll mental stress takes on our bodies. But I do believe it is a factor.— IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) December 31, 2014
Anyhow I don't think it will ever prevent me from doing anything I want to but it has made me realize it's important to look after yourself.— IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) December 31, 2014
So that's my little update and message! Look after your body and mind in the new year, be safe and enjoy it all! See u soon Las Vegas!!!— IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) December 31, 2014
Azalea revealed that one of the things she plans to do this year to reduce her stress is to stay away from all the drama. And 2014 was certainly filled with plenty of drama for the Australian-born rapper as she found herself involved in several celebrity feuds with other artists in the industry.
We hope Azalea takes good care of her health this year and that her pain doesn't stand in the way of her goals and flourishing career. Take care of yourself, Iggy!
