Well, someone had to say it!
Kelly Clarkson was not captivated by the vast array of half-naked women prancing about on stage at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center during the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday and decided to share her thoughts on Twitter.
"Just saw a couple performances from the VMA's last night. 2 words....#pitchystrippers," the 31-year-old tweeted on Monday.
Note that she did not actually drop any names in that tweet, but we get the implication. The VMAs featured a rather nude performance from Lady Gaga, whose set celebrated the singer’s different style stages throughout her career, ending with her dressed in a shell thong-bikini (which she wore until the end of the show!).
Then there was Miley Cyrus. If “twerking,” grabbing other women’s behinds and flopping her tongue out — all whilst wearing a teddy bear leotard — every millisecond was not raunchy enough during her performance of “We Can’t Stop”; the 20-year-old then changed into a nude spandex two-piece and did some grinding with the trusty aid of a foam finger, while singing “Blurred Lines” with Robin Thicke.
Of course, we may be entirely off target here and Clarkson was actually referring to Harry Styles’ low cut T-shirt. . .
Either way, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus’ performances were meant to be provocative, so it’s not surprising that they have garnered this much attention (not all of it good, of course). What do you think of Clarkson’s comment?
