This is mighty awesome! Damon Wayans Jr. is set to return for a handful of episodes as Coach on New Girl! The actor has an option to stay longer.

And from the ashes, a phoenix rises. . .

Although the world will never be the same post-Happy Endings cancellation, we have some good news. Damon Wayans Jr. (who played Brad Williams in Happy Endings) is going to reprise his role as Coach on the Zooey Deschanel-led series, New Girl!

But wait! Does this mean that Winston (played by Lamorne Morris) is leaving the show? Nope, they’re both sticking around and will apparently have a storyline together.

Wayans is reportedly signed up for six episodes with an option to stay longer. The actor appeared in the New Girl pilot, but left the show when Happy Endings was picked for a second season. Morris then replaced him as a brand new character, Winston.

We wonder if Coach’s character will be altered in any way? How will they explain his prolonged absence? Will there be a power struggle?

Needless to say, we’re excited! New Girl’s third season will premiere on Sept. 17. How do you feel about Coach returning?
