OH-EM-GEE! Remember those times when you clutched your Backstreet Boys poster and gently wept whenever "Shape of My Heart" was played on the radio? You're about to relive all of that…
The boys — Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson and A.J. McLean — stopped by Good Morning America on Wednesday morning to perform "Permanent Stain," a new single off their upcoming album, In a World Like This.
And it was magnificent, like a phoenix rising from the ashes of a derelict city… Too intense? OK, let's just say it was a great performance and that BSB still got it goin' on.
This brand spanking new single is very upbeat and probably a good indicator of the tone of the rest of the record. We're hoping for some freshness and growth but also the familiarity of the boy band we fell in love with in the '90s.
"It's just a bunch of great pop songs with a lot of great hooks," Howie told the Huffington Post. "Some of the fans are going to hopefully be able to put it on their radio, on their CD player or whatever the iTunes, and just, you know, take a trip down memory lane with our sound as they've always known it as. They can listen to it and maybe get away from whatever is going on in life for an hour and just enjoy themselves with our music."
In a World Like This is set for release on June 30.
