All of Britannia and its sisters are rejoicing right now, for we have a new royal heir lining up!
"Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby," announced a representative of St. James' Palace this morning.
"The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news."
No word yet as to the due date or gender of the little one. The duchess was admitted to King Edward VII's Hospital in London today, suffering from severe morning sickness. She's expected to stay in hospital for a few days before going home to rest.
It is speculated that the royal couple did not intend to announce the news this early (the duchess is estimated to be under 12 weeks still), but the hospitalization sped things along. We don't mind, really!
Of course, we are all very excited. Possible names? Richard or Edward for a boy, Elizabeth or Diana for a girl. Let's see if we're right!
