There's been a lot of sequel announcements made this week, and here's another: Penelope Cruz will be joining Ben Stiller in a sequel to Zoolander. While sequels aren't exactly always my jam, I can say that I'm totally excited for Zoolander 2. The first installment was so perfectly funny, and to this day, most of us are still quoting lines from the film.
In case you forgot, this particularly famous line, spoken by none other than Alexander Skårsgard, was meant to cure Derek of all of his ills, particularly when he feels the existential crush of his limitations, which brings us to:
We've all "Earthed to" someone at least once in our lives, but if we grew up in a decade later than the '80s, it was likely due to Zoolander.
Of course, we all had that killjoy friend who'd end up quoting Christine Taylor as Matilda Jeffries, inadvertently or not.
We've all felt like we've been taking crazy pills at one point or another. So many people quote this line that I have to wonder how many of them got it from this movie. Also, is that a trash bag ascot Mugatu's wearing?
Speaking of the oft-quoted Will Ferrell as Mugatu, the sinister fashion designer, there was this little piece of snark.
More Starbucks-style humor from the movie that brought us the nastiest sounding frappuccino.
We all loved the simplistic endorsement of Hansel, didn't we? That's why we use it on everything.
Of course, with the introduction of Derek's nemesis came the introduction of the rivalry between Zoolander and Hansel, which resulted in... a walk-off!
Arguably what made this movie so great was its takedown of how absolutely tone-deaf and ridiculous the fashion industry can sometimes be, and that included Mugatu's use of vagrants as inspiration.
In Hansel's defense, he really was too cool for school.
After Hansel pulled his underwear from his pants during that walk-off, we all did.
Admittedly, I'm a big fan of a good genitals joke, so I always thought this was a pretty great burn.
Of course, Zoolander's comeback wasn't as sick, but still pretty funny.
After he lost the walk-off, Derek had to do some soul-searching. Who can't relate to that?
I don't know about you guys, but this is my go-to line when I have a chest cold.
We all had to giggle a little at how blind these two were to Matilda's struggle.
If you say you don't do this when Wham! comes on the radio, then you are a lying liar full of lies.
