In a recent interview with Yahoo! Movies, Pattinson said, "I think there's definitely something alien about [Hollywood] mainly because people who act — it's really not necessarily just in Hollywood — they're just people who... they examine themselves a lot more and like to talk about it. And I think if you're spending a lot of time being self-obsessed, you just end up being kind of a weirdo."
And even though he has his head on straight, he surprisingly doesn't reject the weirdos.
"It's kind of interesting," Pattinson continued with a laugh, "but I don't know if my view of Hollywood is particularly like that. I always find weirdos kind of entertaining and interesting and have a lot of patience for them for some reason."
Pattinson's latest film, Maps to the Stars, takes a more clinical and detached tone, which Pattinson explained is filmmaker David Cronenberg's view on the industry.
Perhaps it's Pattinson's ability to sympathize with the strange types that makes him such a great actor.
Maps to the Stars will be released Feb. 15, 2015, though it's appearing in the film festival circles prior to its release and the story is getting some major buzz. Julianne Moore already won the Best Actress Award at Cannes Film Festival for her role in the movie, which tells the dark tale of a Hollywood family. John Cusack and Mia Wasikowska also star.
