The "Anaconda" hit maker revealed in L'Uomo Vogue's October issue that she doesn't want her life to just be about her professional career.
"I don't want to work my whole life without ever experiencing the joys of a family," she explained.
The New York rapper caught the attention of the world with her rap skills, which have earned her respect in a male-dominated industry, but she's not done building her empire yet.
"I want to build my empire. In my field, I have always seen men do it — from Diddy to Dr. Dre to Jay Z. Now it's a woman's turn," she told the publication.
And while she can certainly hold her own in the industry, and she takes control over all her own affairs, when it comes to her personal life Minaj wants someone to take care of her.
She revealed to the publication that she wants "an upright man, who will take care of me. The time is not yet ripe, but when I decide to get married and become a mother, I would like to take a hiatus and dedicate myself completely to my child."
"Family has always been very important to me, and that is why I want to wait until the right moment before starting my own. Right now, I am too busy, but at a certain point the situation will change," Minaj confessed.
And perhaps one of the reasons why she has such a strong desire to start her own family is because she's been inspired by Beyoncé and her parenting skills.
The duo previously performed the "Flawless Remix" during Bey's On the Run tour in Paris, France, and seeing her with her daughter Blue Ivy pulled on Minaj's heartstrings.
"Seeing Beyoncé with her daughter and husband was so tender," she gushed to the magazine. "It showed me that it is possible to be an animal on stage and a caring mother at the same time."
