Coop spoke with Square Mile magazine and said he "would love to be a father one day."
"I'm sorry my father won't be around to see his grandchildren, but he knows fatherhood was something I was looking forward to," he explained. "That's my next big step in life."
But for now, Cooper is happily dating and working on his career. He is currently attached to British model Suki Waterhouse and has plenty of projects in the works. Cooper is thankful for everything he has achieved, but he never forgets where he came from.
"I struggled for a long time, and you never forget what you went through to finally make it,” he explained. “Even with the success I've had, I still fight for roles that I don't wind up getting, so there's still enough uncertainty to keep you hungry."
He added, "There's this crushing anxiety you feel when you're not getting the parts you want, and you wonder if acting is your destiny."
Cooper will again be starring with Jennifer Lawrence, who he worked alongside in both Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, and he admitted she is the one actress he looks forward to seeing every day at work.
"We've had so much fun working together, and I'm so proud of her success," he said. "She's one of the most down-to-earth and unpretentious individuals you could ever meet, and it's such a pleasure to spend time with her. She's incredibly talented; she's one of those natural performers who are instinctively good at what they do."
Cooper and JLaw’s next movie, Serena, will be out on March 27, 2015.
