Nicole Kidman's father has died in Singapore after fatal fall in hotel room

Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman's father, Dr. Antony Kidman, has died after an accident, according to reports.

Australian news broadcaster ABC reports that Dr. Kidman was in Singapore visiting his youngest daughter Antonia Kidman and her family when the accident happened. It is believed he died on Friday morning after a fall in his hotel room. Further details were not immediately available, but it is believed police in Singapore are investigating his "unnatural death."

Kidman was a clinical psychologist at the Royal North Shore Hospital and a director of health psychology at the University of Technology, Sydney in Australia. He was awarded the Order of Australia in 2005 for his contribution to health services.

"It is with great sadness that we learn of Dr Tony Kidman’s sudden passing. During his 43 years at the University of Technology, Sydney, Tony has contributed greatly — as a colleague, as a researcher, and as a health practitioner," vice-chancellor professor Attila Brungs said in a statement, ABC reports. "Tony will be missed by all at UTS. Our thoughts are with his family at this time."

In June, the To Die For actress had happily walked the red carpet with her father and husband Keith Urban at the Swisse Celebrate Life Ball in Melbourne, Australia.

There has been no official statement released by the actress at this time, but her publicist and friend Wendy Day told the Daily Mail that, "the family is in shock and is grieving. I think that some time and privacy is needed to deal with this shock and tragedy."
