The Bachelor's Shayne Lamas has baby No. 2 on the way via surrogacy

Shayne Lamas and her husband, Nik Richie, were dealt a tragic blow earlier this year when the reality TV star suffered from severe pregnancy complications, which left her fighting for her life, and the couple's baby boy was stillborn.

However, despite their heartache, the lovebirds have decided to expand their family and they are excited to be expecting their second child, this time via surrogate.

"Shayne is not pregnant [but] thanks to Dr. Smotrich [of La Jolla IVF Clinic], he was able to stimulate her ovaries to produce eggs which he converted to embryos," Richie revealed to Us Weekly. "Someone else is carrying our child. We are truly excited to expand our family."

Lamas, the daughter of actor, Lorenzo Lamas, rose to fame during her stint on The Bachelor and the couple's story is really one of love at first sight, because the pair wed in Las Vegas only hours after meeting each other.

Lamas and Richie released the statement about the surrogacy after there was some confusion as to whether Lamas was pregnant with the child herself. The couple had appeared on VH1's Couples Therapy Reunion on Sept. 3 and the way that the show had been edited caused speculation as to whether Lamas had a bun in the oven.

Earlier this year, Lamas thanked fans for their continued support, saying, "Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. I've cried reading the expression of generosity and warmth from everyone. I'm out of ICU at Mission Viejo Hospital. I cannot thank the medical staff here enough for not giving up on me."
