Simpson married her longtime boyfriend, Eric Johnson, over the summer and the singer decided to pen a letter to Glamour to talk about what she has learned over the years.
"I've grown into myself and established my identity on my terms," she said. "I embrace my strengths and celebrate even the small victories. I'm certainly not perfect, but when I look in the mirror, I'm proud of the woman I see. I'm not only someone's mother, wife, and daughter — I'm me."
Simpson and Johnson already have two children together and she said that his love for her is what has taught her to love herself. She explained, "Eric has seen me at every size, and he loves me no matter what. Eric was so supportive and challenged me to accept my insecurities and focus on what truly matters."
Simpson has taken the challenge as a Weight Watchers spokesperson after the births of each of her children and she showed up at her sister's wedding looking slimmed down. She said, "I feel stronger than ever, and Eric's unconditional love has been a reminder of the love I should give myself."
Jessica Simpson has grown up in the public eye, and after one unsuccessful marriage, she obviously feels she has found where she belongs. But through it all, her family has been a guiding force.
"My family has been by my side in every way imaginable — through the highest highs and the lowest lows," she said. "I believe that because I've nurtured and cherished these relationships, my marriage and the relationship I have with myself are strengthened daily."
