For a month this fall, a pop-up replica of Central Perk will be open in New York City to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Friends' TV debut. "The One with the Free Coffee" will give fans a chance to hang out in a space designed to look just like the one where Monica, Chandler, Ross, Rachel, Joey and Phoebe had their famous hangouts during the show's run from 1994 to 2004.
It'll include the famous orange couch that was the seat of choice for the Friends gang, as well as live musical performances. You'd better bet someone will bust out a rendition of "Smelly Cat."
Of course, coffee is included and it'll be free for visitors — the pop-up shop is a joint effort by Warner Bros., who produced the show, and Eight O' Clock Coffee, which will be slinging cups of its limited edition Central Perk Roast, created specifically for the occasion.
And everyone's favorite socially awkward, bleach-blond barista, Gunther, played on the show by James Michael Tyler, is even set to make some guest appearances — and probably listen in on everyone's conversations, because that's just what he does.
The shop will be open in Soho at 199 Lafayette Street, on the corner of Broome Street, from Sept. 17 until Oct. 18. There will be weekly sing-alongs, photo opps, contests and giveaways, and visitors will have chances to buy and win special edition Friends swag, so count on lines being crazy long for the entire month.
