Some big stars, and some not-so-big stars, made fashion choices that looked silly on the red carpet. And although they may get an A for effort, this time it just wasn't enough.
These are some of our least favorites (or rather, least favorites):
With a given name like Charlotte Emma Aitchison, where did Charli XCX go wrong? It looks like the rock chick from the United Kingdom was trying to be edgy but crossed the very fine line into tacky territory. Although she is not yet a huge name in the United States, it's likely her tiger-print outfit at the VMAs will make people remember her for a very long time.
In what can only be described as an oversized men's jacket — and not much else — Knowles showed up looking like she probably spent hours this afternoon just to look like she didn't try. Knowles' hair looked gorgeous as always, and the sparkles on her suit helped, but nothing could save this look from the monstrous suit jacket.
It feels like Rose made a trip to the closet of the VMAs of years past. She showed up in a silver chained dress that very much resembled Rose McGowan’s 1998 Video Music Awards dress. Although Amber Rose appears to be covering more than McGowan did, it still brings back some memories that no one wanted to dig up.
Although Taylor Swift can normally do no wrong when it comes to fashion, the singer had a big miss at this year's VMAs. It's not clear whether she is going swimming after the show (maybe to gymnastics practice?) or she just wanted to loosen up so she could do as much weird dancing as possible. The one-piece jumpsuit is not only not flattering, but the print is not working for Taylor.
Jessie J showed up to this year's show looking like someone who was invited to a toga party an hour before it started. Her dress actually hit all the unflattering areas of her body, making her look misproportioned. Jessie J is a picture of beauty, but it's hard to tell when you can't take your eyes off her dress.
Jeremy Scott has a little room here to wear whatever he wants. This is because he's a fashion designer known for big, bright colors and wild, wacky outfits. But this one was a little hard to take. If you think the yellow suit was too much, just wait until he turns around — the back is covered with a giant smiley face.
