After announcing her return to rehab, Elizabeth Vargas is also divorcing her husband Marc Cohn.

It has been just days since Vargas returned to rehab for her decades-long battle with alcohol, and now she is reportedly going to divorce her husband, People magazine reported. The ABC News reporter admitted that her struggle with addiction has affected her family, including Cohn and their two children, Zachary, 11, and Samuel, 8.

Ultimately, the couple has decided to divorce, announcing their decision while Vargas gets help.

"Marc and Elizabeth are in divorce proceedings," a source told People. "The kids are with him in New York while she seeks treatment."

Cohn, who married Vargas in 2002, offered his soon-to-be ex support despite their split and gave a statement to the media to make his sentiments known.

"On behalf of Elizabeth's family, we are in total support of her recovery and want her to be well," Cohn wrote.

Giving her own statement, Vargas also opened up about her ordeal and apologized for the pain she has caused her family and coworkers.

"As so many other recovering alcoholics know, overcoming the disease can be a long and incredibly difficult process," Vargas said. "I feel I have let myself, my coworkers and most importantly my family down, and for that I am ashamed and sorry."

Vargas reportedly checked into rehab while she was on vacation with her family, apparently having fallen off the wagon since her last rehab stint in November of last year. Cohn, who is a musician, is on break from touring and will stay with the children while Vargas recovers. Most likely, once Vargas is done with her treatment, a court hearing will decide who will have primary custody of the two boys.
