Swift also said the dancing itself was a very planned strategy to get rid of her nerves at the show.
"I used to get really nervous at awards shows because, seemingly, they're a huge pressure cooker. And everybody seems to be sitting there trying to look more unaffected by being at this awards show than the next person next to them," Swift explained to Seth Meyers, according to the Daily Mirror. "That can have an effect on you, and so you're in the front row and you're sitting there like, 'Maybe I should sit here like this.'"
So Swift made a decision to just enjoy herself and have fun, like she would at any other show.
"A couple years ago, I just decided, 'No. This is the coolest concert you could ever go to.'”
With a new album coming out in a few months — as well as a Yahoo live stream and VMA performance all coming up this month — Swift has been making the award show circuit. However, the singer continued by saying her dancing isn't always that awkward — it's just the surprise of being caught on camera that makes her look that way.
But she added that she long ago stopped caring what people thought.
She explained to Meyers, "This is like all these incredible acts playing their biggest songs and I get to be front row and I'm going to dance during this because I feel like it — and not because it looks cool, because it doesn't."
