Boyce Avenue joins YouTube's billion-views club

James Dinh is a twentysomething full-time music junkie, living in New York City. In his spare time, he enjoys endless debates about pop stars, eating pepperoni pizza and anything that Britney Spears touches. Apart from his work at She Kn...

Boyce Avenue hits a momentous number on YouTube and tells us all about it

Let Boyce Avenue be the internet's latest success story for spreading music to the billions. Most recently, the Puerto Rican bandmates and brothers, Alejandro, Daniel and Fabian Manzano, spoke to SheKnows about the career milestone and, let's just say, they can't believe it either!

"It was huge," Alejandro Manzano said of the group's viral accomplishment. "For us, it was this gradual thing. We remember getting the first 1,000 views was a big deal. Then million and then billion is impossible to fathom."

So, how exactly did the once-major-label band go independent and become even more popular on the blogosphere? There's no exact reason, but it might come down to their consistent touring. Fabian Manzano tells SheKnows that the band has crazy fan bases in countries like Brazil and the Philippines — places that he would never have imagined visiting pre-fame. "We've toured in over 20 countries. We're going back to Australia to tour, so we've had the chance to go almost all around the world," he added.

But whatever the reason, the self-proclaimed "sexy, acoustic pop/rock" band says there are guidelines they've followed throughout their career that might help industry newcomers. "I would say to be yourself and be proud of who you are," Alejandro told us. "It might be difficult at first to find your way, but just stay true to who you are. The answers will reveal themselves over time."

It doesn't look they'll be stopping any time soon, either. The group admits that the band will begin a country-wide tour from east coast to west coast soon, stopping at some legendary venues across the nation.
