A wannabe rap star, Robert Pattinson revealed his rapper name is Big Tub and explained the funny title came about because of his self-consciousness of his weight as a child.
Pattinson appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers Tuesday night to promote his latest film The Rover and revealed some fun facts about his youth. When asked if it was true he wanted to be a rapper when he was younger, Pattinson quipped, "Yeah, 100 percent," and added he still "kind of" wants to be one.
When Meyers concurred that the British actor has a definite rapper energy about him, Pattinson agreed and revealed his rapper name.
"My rap name is Big Tub," he said with a straight face. "I was very paranoid about my weight. I got quite sick in the last couple of days and I'm so excited about it. I thought, 'Next week I'm going to be so skinny!'"
Meyers assured the handsome actor that if he ever recorded any of his rap songs he'd be "the first in line" to buy them. "Big Tub? We should look for Big Tub, and the album drops when?" Meyers asked.
"Big Tub and the Tabby Cats," Pattinson said, revealing the complete name of his rap band. He also divulged that when he recorded himself rapping he used his hoodie zipper for sound effects because he did not know how to scratch. "It sounds exactly like it," he said.
In addition to his rap aspirations, the Twilight star spoke about his first digs when he got to Los Angeles as an actor. Pattinson said he had a friend who worked as a magician and he told him to come and stay at the Magic Castle hotel.
"A pretty great hotel," Pattinson said. "I used to be friends with all the hookers who lived down the street, they were my first friends in LA."
