After nearly three months, Beauty and the Beast resumes its second season on Monday, June 2 with the episode "Beast is the New Black." When last we saw Vincent and Catherine, their long separation had finally come to an end, but the two were thrown into a new turmoil when Vincent was immediately arrested for murder. J.T. and Tess had an embrace of their own, but it's doubtful their story won't go off without a hitch.
This series has traveled a rocky road so far, not only on the air but behind the scenes as well. It has faced cancellation and won, brought in characters that were almost universally hated by the fans and been moved around the schedule. After all of the challenges, we're not sure if we're ready to get reinvested in this show, but there are five things the series could do that would practically guarantee our interest for many seasons to come.
To say that Tori was unpopular among most fans is probably a bit of an understatement. While we'll admit that all romances need hurdles to get past, no one enjoyed Tori as that hurdle. Sure, she is dead and not likely to return, but we'd like to put in our vote that no magical plot twist revives her. We'd also like to vote for no characters like her in the future.
Yes, we know, Vincent is the center of the show, but is there really such a thing as too much Vincent? Jay Ryan is absolutely stunning and perfect and just everything you could possibly want in a leading man. Ryan is easily the best thing about the series so just give us plenty of Vincent and we will be very happy fangirls. Extra points if he's given to us shirtless.
This request may seem similar to the one above, but it's not really. Sure, we want more Vincent, but the only girl we want for him is Catherine. We've had enough of the Tori story and ones like it. If the show must keep them apart, we hope that they do it with other types of twists and not with a love triangle. Haven't love triangles gotten a bit old anyway?
J.T. and Tess have had an interesting relationship. There's an obvious connection between them, but it seemed like Tess had a hard time admitting it. From the last episode it looks like they might actually be ready to make a go of it and we're all for that. They make a great pair and we want to see them together forever.
The core of this show is definitely the Fab Five of Vincent, Catherine, J.T., Tess and Gabe. We like it best when all five work together as a united front against an enemy, not when they are all fighting against each other. Keep the Fab Five together and we'll be in for the long haul.
