Katharine McPhee was involved in a cheating scandal last year, and she has finally decided to make the split from her husband official.

"After six years of marriage, and having been separated for the past year, Katharine McPhee has filed for a dissolution of marriage from Nick Cokas," a rep for McPhee said. "The two have an amicable relationship and will remain friends. They ask that people respect their privacy during this time."

McPhee and Cokas married in Beverly Hills back in 2008, but they don't have any children together. In 2013, the American Idol contestant was involved in a cheating scandal involving Smash director, Michael Morris. They were caught on camera kissing, even though both were married.

Although it may be easy to believe that is what led to the end of McPhee's marriage, she and Cokas were actually already estranged. Morris is married to actress, Mary McCormack, and the two struggled through the scandal.

"They've been together for more than 10 years and always had such a solid marriage," a source reportedly told Life & Style magazine back in October. "They have three daughters, so it's incredibly sad. He wants to keep the family together, but as far as Mary is concerned, it's over. There's no going back."

Morris and McCormack apparently worked through their issues and stayed together, and it looked like McPhee and Cokas were trying to work on their marriage recently. But a friend told People that the split was amicable and Morris was not a factor.

"It was just time," the source said. "They'd grown apart and weren't right for each other anymore."
