Chris Brown is facing some more problems after his bodyguard was found guilty of assaulting a man in Washington, D.C., last October.
Brown is facing the same assault charge, and his trial was supposed to start Monday morning, April 21, but was postponed at the last minute due to Christopher Hollosy's conviction. The charges came from an incident where Brown and Hollosy allegedly attacked the man who was attempting to take a photo of Brown on a Washington, D.C., sidewalk.
The delay of Brown's trial is reportedly due to the prosecution's consideration to offer Hollosy immunity for testifying against Brown, according to CNN. But Hollosy's lawyer said they would be appealing the conviction and he would be invoking his constitutional rights against self-incrimination.
Brown's charge is only a misdemeanor, but it could have more important consequences for the singer if he is found guilty. He was jailed for breaking his probation in California, and that judge is reportedly waiting on the D.C. verdict before deciding if Brown should stay in jail in California. He had been in a rehab center as part of his probation — which dates all the way back to 2009 and an assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna — but when he was kicked out he was taken back into custody.
Brown has also been working on a highway cleanup crew in Los Angeles to fulfill his community service requirement. Without his imprisonment, he was expected to complete those requirements by the end of the year. But with the new charges, that could easily be pushed into 2015 or even 2016.
Brown's attorney has argued that the victim only filed charges in an attempt "to get rich," according to CNN, and a lawsuit against the 24-year-old has indeed been filed.
Brown had a big entourage in court with him, including his mom and aunts, his on-again, off-again girlfriend Karrueche Tran (even though it was rumored they had broken up) and rapper Bow Wow.
