The Raid Revisited
Chris and Liam Hemsworth are being eyed for the American adaptation of The Raid. Could the Aussie natives get down and dirty for the remake?
We may finally see those beautiful Hemsworth boys in a movie together. Individually, Chris and Liam star in two of the most successful franchises of all-time. Chris is part of The Avengers and headlines his own Thor series. Meanwhile, Liam's easily one of the fan favorites in The Hunger Games franchise.
According to The Wrap, the Hemsworth brothers could combine their star power for The Raid. Screen Gems and XYZ Films are adapting the popular Indonesian martial arts movie that was written and directed by Gareth Evans. The film centered on "an Indonesian S.W.A.T. team tasked with storming a building where a violent gangster and his thugs reign over innocent residents. One young cop has a mission of his own — to rescue his drug-dealing brother from the chaos inside."
Can't you imagine Chris and Liam in those roles? The Raid and its upcoming sequel The Raid 2 are very action-heavy. Both actors have shot their fair share of fight scenes, but none have been like this. Most of the original cast had martial arts or stunt backgrounds. It would be interesting to see if they'd tone down the violence to appease the actors and American audiences.
The remake will be directed by Patrick Hughes, who helmed the upcoming sequel, The Expendables 3. He's obviously no stranger to action-heavy productions. The Expendables films are known for their emphasis on violence. Production on The Raid is scheduled to begin this fall.
