Rupert Sanders was a very bad boy in July 2012, and his affair with Kristen Stewart whilst filming Snow White and the Huntsman cost both the director and his star dearly.
When the scandal of the affair between Hollywood A-lister Stewart and her director broke, fans were outraged. Not only did the On the Road actress' long-term boyfriend Robert Pattinson get his heart shattered, the affair also marked the end of the 42-year-old filmmaker's marriage to English model Liberty Ross.
With all of the trouble the incident caused in their personal and public lives, you would think both guilty parties would want to move on with their lives and forget it ever happened.
And it appears the 23-year-old star has moved on and has no regrets. Stewart recently revealed to the latest issue of Marie Claire magazine, "I stand by every mistake I've ever made, so judge away."
However, Sanders appears to be having a harder time moving on and allegedly still has very strong feelings for Stewart.
According to Radar Online, a source revealed that despite what Sanders may have told the public, his family and his friends, he just cannot get over Stewart.
The source said, "His family is wrecked. Even though he has admitted to everyone in his life that the long-brewing affair was a terrible idea, he still hasn't been able to get over his feelings for Kristen."
"He fell in love with her a long time before he laid a finger on her, and he's finding it difficult to shake."
There have been rumors that the affair was much more than just a momentary indiscretion between Stewart and Sanders, and that the pair were believed to have stayed in touch even while Stewart was trying to mend her crumbling relationship with Pattinson. So could there still be some hope left for Sanders after all?
The source added, "They are still in contact, and incredibly, Rupert is still hoping for a future together. But Kristen has come to her senses and doesn't want to damage her image more."
"Rupert definitely lost more in this whole scandal. He's devastated they can't be together."
Speaking of loss, it was not just Sanders' marriage that fell apart — his career has apparently suffered, too. The director is finding it very hard to secure lucrative future film deals. And after all of this, Sanders allegedly still wants Stewart to be his lady.
The source added, "Rupert, against all better judgement (sic), still holds out hope that he and Kristen can get things going again, but he's completely deluded — she would never put her career on the line like that again."
Do you think there could be hope for Sanders and Stewart in the future? Or should they both just move on with their lives?
