The Bachelor's Shayne Lamas is reportedly in a coma after a severe complication with her pregnancy. According to TMZ, Lamas also lost the baby she was carrying.
Paramedics were reportedly called to Lamas' home in Orange County after she collapsed, and she was then taken to the hospital where doctors found internal bleeding. They decided to perform surgery, but she later lost her baby. The child would have been the second for Lamas and her husband Nik Richie.
TMZ has reported that Lamas is not breathing on her own, but that doctors are "optimistic" about her recovery.
Lamas won Season 12 of The Bachelor, and is the daughter of actor Lorenzo Lamas. She became engaged to British financier Matt Grant at the end of the show, but the relationship ended in 2008.
She and Richie eloped in 2011, just hours after meeting. Lamas and Richie's first child, Press Dahl Lamas-Richie, was born in November of 2011.
"Her name came to us at the beginning of my pregnancy, because she was getting so much press," she told E! News at the time. "It started as a joke; her nickname was 'Press Baby,' but when we found out it was a girl, suddenly that was her name — her name was going to be Press! I think Press is a beautiful name, we're elated, little princess Press!"
The couple announced their second pregnancy last year.
"Both Shayne and I are super-excited for our second child," Richie wrote in a blog post of the announcement. "I've grown so much as a father and Shayne is an amazing mother. Together we are a great team and love each other very much."
Lamas was reportedly 16 weeks along when she collapsed. Her husband and father are both by her side at the hospital.
