Smarter Than She Acts

New day, new pictures/videos of Miley Cyrus in various stages of undress. This girl is either naked or about to get naked, so you can imagine our confusion when she recently criticized porn. Is it possible that Cyrus is smarter than we're giving her credit for?

Miley Cyrus

"Guys watch too much porn"

Miley Cyrus told W Magazine, "Guys watch too much porn," and "Those girls don't exist — they're not real girls."

Air five, sister! All the single ladies have been saying that for a while now. Guys have become so addicted to spanktravision that they forget that those women are paid. (And is it OK to say that it's not exactly an industry secret that the participants are whacked out of their skull a good portion of the time?) When it's time for guys to date the real thing, either they think the girl is going to swing from the rafters, or they've been having so much "me" time that they're completely desensitized.

But we digress. Miley Cyrus made those statements. You know, the girl who rode naked on a wrecking ball, who writhed around in a skintight outfit with her can in the air in her "We Can't Stop" video, who touched Robin Thicke's "areas covered by a bathing suit" onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards and who recently videotaped herself pawing her lady business in her "Adore You" video. Yeah, that Miley Cyrus.

We're confused

Cyrus also said that romantic comedies are "girl porn" and that those men don't exist, either. Again, she makes a valid point. Women are raised with Disney princes coming to the rescue and hot, funny men from the movies. That also sets an unrealistic expectation. So why is a celebrity whose name has become synonymous with envelope pushing and inappropriate behavior making so much sense? Underneath all the smoke and mirrors, is Cyrus a lot smarter than we give her credit for?

Miley Cyrus

That sounds downright grounded

After the W interview, much was made of Cyrus' comment that she "hated kids" (which is kind of funny when you consider the fact that a healthy portion of Cyrus' fan base is kids). Cyrus went on to explain that she meant she hates the way kids treat their parents and that their lack of respect for their parents makes her want to smack the kids herself. That almost sounds like someone who was raised to have respect for her parents and who appreciates raising well-behaved kids.

Is it possible that Cyrus is not only smarter than we've given her credit for but that she may be more grounded and may have more of a moral compass than we've thought? First, Cyrus blew our socks off with her MTV Unplugged performance, and now this. Hmmm.

@Henry What Cyrus ISN'T saying is that she detests porn stars FOR GOING NUDE, nor is she criticising the porn industry for having nude [women] starring in them (it's PORN). What she IS criticising, however, is the way that men (though it's not just MEN who watch ass tons of porn, @idiots writing the article. While it is a stereotype against that does hold weight, it's a stereotype that isn't untrue for BOTH es) seemingly idolise these "goddesses", and they hold all women they encounter to porn star standards in bed. She compares it to romance movies where women seemingly idolise these "gods" for being the poster child for men and their personalities everywhere. They both seemingly create unrealistic standards for men and women to uphold for whoever has such ridiculous standards in the first place. Having said all of that, only an idiot, a true dolt (or a sheltered CHILD), would believe everything they watch on television (or the internet (though in the case of children, it IS the job of their parents or a more knowledgeable other to set the record straight)). The article does a great job at being subjective and not necessarily analysing every possible viewpoint in order to make a valid argument (though why would it considering it is only supposed to be providing commentary over Cyrus's words). I digress.

I meant to put Come on Miley, look at yourself. Not on Miley, look at yourself.

She sounds like a hypocrite because she goes nude nowadays on film and criticizes porn which is about nudity. She is either not watching her words or intentionally saying hypocritical statements. Is nudity in porn?Yes Does she go nude?Yes Is she confusing?Absolutely yes,yet she may think that she is giving honest advice. Come on Miley, look at yourself now.

I'm a huge Miley fan. She's very open, has a big heart, and actually sounds very smart and passionate in her interviews. I am amused by her opinion of porn. Those were fair observations she made. At the same time alot of porn out there right now is user uploaded, couples-normal people, the fastest growing segment of porn is user generated. Real people. Sure some of the college sites featuring amateurs still pay their girls but they are real girls who were attracted to the cash and excitement. So the old mom line about porn being all fantasy, not real girls, not the real world, not how it really is-is very very outdated. having said that she's right we do watch too much of the stuff xD

One line in this article really ------ me off. (And is it OK to say that it's not exactly an industry secret that the participants are whacked out of their skull a good portion of the time?) - No it's not ok to say that because that is an outdated point of view. As someone who actually works in the porn industry it is not like that, maybe at one point it was but not anymore. I work in Europe and the girls who we have shot only ONE came ''Whacked out'' and she was sent home, so please don't peddle the old out dated arguments
