Lea Thompson, who is the mother of Vampire Academy star Zoey Deutch, joked that she's afraid to get into fights with her daughter now that she's had such a kick-butt role in the film.
SheKnows caught up with Thompson at the Vampire Academy premiere red carpet where she dished on her daughter who plays the film's lead, Rose Hathaway. Thompson actually revealed that she is scared to get into fights with her daughter since she played such a butt-kicking role in the film.
But in real life, Deutch has always been very funny, energetic and powerful, Thompson said. She also admitted that she's always been a little "nervous to get into a fight with her because she's so strong-willed" as a person.
"She was made to play [the Rose Hathaway] part, she's very strong-willed," Thompson added. "She's the perfect vampire slayer, kind of, that's what she is, the perfect vampire defender."
The Switched at Birth star also revealed that while she has always been wary of Deutch being in the movie industry, the young star is "very talented, with a great head on her shoulders." She also has the support of all her family, which makes it easy to keep her in a good place and grounded.
Deutch has had several parts on television shows and movies, but the Vampire Academy role is her first big screen part where she plays the lead. She was also in Beautiful Creatures, and had a regular role in the CW's popular, but prematurely canceled series, Ringer.
