So it looks like we're heading from deathbeds to killer parties on The Vampire Diaries. While the promo (above) falls in line with where we left off last week, the synopsis for next week's episode takes us in a whole different direction.
When Enzo brings Damon (Ian Somerhalder) a gruesome present and insists that they bond by committing an act of revenge, Damon makes an effort to do the horrible thing. After finding himself in an awkward and confusing conversation with Nadia, Matt impulsively decides to throw a party, where Caroline (Candice Accola) makes a stunning confession to Elena (Nina Dobrev), then has to face the consequences of her actions with Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Tyler. Aaron does his best to make amends for his family's past misdeeds and start a new life for himself. Finally, Elena suddenly finds herself in a life-threatening situation with only minutes to figure out how to save herself.
It doesn't even address the fact that Katherine has become a traveler in Elena's body. And we know Damon and Stefan won't be fooled for long, at least.
Remember when Matt was taken over by Gregor? It didn't happen as a permanent thing. Instead, every once in a while, Gregor would seize control, and Matt would be left with blank spots in his memory. This is what we think will happen to Elena. She probably won't even realize Katherine is in her body until later on in the episode.
This might be Katherine's unforgivable act, which even Stefan can't forgive. At least, we hope. After the last episode, Katherine has lost every ounce of sympathy from us.
Nadia should be afraid of Damon. Very afraid. She's messed with the love of his life, after all, and Damon has done a lot worse to people who have done a lot less.
Enzo is back in the game next week, and we have to say we're looking forward to it. He's the wild card this season that we're quickly falling in love with in the same fashion as when Klaus arrived on the show.
Clearly, he's another bad boy thrown into the mix but it's understandable given his past. He'll try to lure Damon back to the dark side and his revenge agenda. We think Damon might just turn the tables and convince Enzo to be good again. Wouldn't that be perfectly ironic?
What's under that sheet? Is that a body? Damon will definitely be getting himself into trouble in the next episode.
Is that just a shadow, or is there something at the corner of Enzo's mouth that looks like the hint of a bruise? Perhaps the brooding vampire helps himself to a drink after Damon decks him. Now that's reminiscent of the Alaric and Damon days.
Clearly, Enzo is getting his own slideshow for next week's episode. Not that we're complaining. He is easy to look at.
So it turns out Matt and Nadia still have some chemistry, which leaves him feeling so uncertain he decides to throw a kegger to clear his head. Right. Too bad he and Rebekah can't be together. But Rebekah always has to go for the guys who just can't seem to love her back.
At this party, Caroline will make a confession, according to the synopsis. We're guessing she'll be spilling about her rendezvous with Klaus. We're OK with it if it makes Tyler mad. He's way out of the picture at this point in our minds. But Stefan shouldn't be upset. He is, after all, sleeping with enemy No. 1 at this point.
It looks like Elena and Stefan will have a little heart-to-heart. At this point, does she know that Katherine is traveling inside her body? We can't wait to see how Stefan will react to the news! We do feel bad for him. Not so much for her.
Is he talking to Elena as Elena or Elena as Katherine? It's hard to tell since her face is half-covered by hair. Still, it's clear it isn't a happy conversation. Poor Damon looks heartbroken. We really hope he's taking Stefan's advice and confessing his true feelings to Elena. On the flip side, if he's confessing while she's Katherine it would be a disaster.
Damon looks so sad! Did Elena reject his attempts at reconciliation? It seems like that's the path this episode is headed down.
We feel like a certain crab in a certain Disney movie. Go on and kiss the girl! We can only hope.
