She's In It For The Long Haul
Wonder Woman is staking her claim to the DC Universe. The character may appear in not one but three upcoming films.
As expected, Gal Gadot has made a long-term commitment to playing Wonder Woman. Her appearance in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman is just the tip of the iceberg. The actress has signed on to star in multiple DC Entertainment films, which means Wonder Woman will be sticking around longer than we thought.
According to Variety, Gadot could appear in Batman vs. Superman as well as in Justice League and a stand-alone Wonder Woman movie. It's common practice for studios to lock actors into multifilm deals, so this isn't a stretch. The most exciting prospect is the solo movie. Wonder Woman's never appeared on the big screen in a live-action context, so that's a huge deal.
If Gadot's version of the character is well-received, a Wonder Woman movie could happen sooner rather than later. The Israeli actress appeared on the Israel-based entertainment show Good Evening with Gai Pines, where her starting salary for the films was revealed. At the moment, she's slated to earn $300,000 per film.
Those three films will bring her a payday just shy of $1 million. But considering her short résumé, we understand the lower scale. The only person who'll make serious bank is probably Ben Affleck. He has two Oscars to his credit and is the standout among the cast.
Even though Batman vs. Superman is essentially a Man of Steel sequel, we feel like Affleck and Gadot may steal the show from Henry Cavill.
Batman vs. Superman is scheduled to hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
