Jared Padalecki is a heartthrob who is also a father of two. But of all the things in his life, nothing has been as challenging as figuring out fatherhood.

Navigating fatherhood Supernatural star Jared Padalecki and his wife welcomed their second baby back in December, and the actor said becoming a dad has been a life-altering experience. But the 31-year-old said he thinks men have it particularly tough.

"As they get older, you can play and communicate — it's fine," he explained to People. "When they're babies, you're like, 'I don't want to break you. I have big hands, I'm sorry.'"

Padalecki and his wife Genevieve also have a 22-month-old son, Thomas Colton, but he admits he isn't always the one who takes care of their children. Supernatural shoots far from his Austin home, in Vancouver, and Padalecki thanks his "pretty awesome" wife and their nanny for raising the kids. He is currently on a break, and is happy to be able to spend some time with his newborn. He told People "we'll have a couple of weeks now."

In December, Padalecki confirmed the birth of their new baby boy via Twitter, saying Genevieve had home-birthed the child. The couple met on the set of Supernatural and were married in 2010. They announced they would be expecting their second child in July, again through Twitter.

The actor is not the only one on Supernatural with a new baby. Jensen Ackles has a 7-month-old daughter, Justice Jay. Ackles said even though both he and Padalecki have become the heartthrobs of the CW network, their fans are okay with knowing they are family men.

"I think it's the opposite," Ackles said. "They're super supportive. They love it."

Padalecki agreed, saying, "Being on a show about two guys trying to do what’s right, I think they're happy that we're two guys trying to do what's right."
