Balancing Life As A Mom And A Pop Star
Most stars hurry to lose weight after having a baby. But Shakira's boyfriend is happy with her just as she is.
Shakira is a worldwide sex symbol, and also just gave birth to her first child. While many in that situation might feel pressured to lose weight, the singer is just fine where she is. She admits that her boyfriend, Gerard Piqué, is happy with her body.
"My man, Gerard, prefers meat over bone. He doesn't like too skinny," she told Glamour. "That takes the pressure off. I already have a lot to worry about."
Most pop singers might spend hours in the gym, but Shakira said she just has more important things to do.
"This month I'm not exercising because I have an album to finish and I have a baby," she said, according to People. "And I like these pastries in front of me."
Shakira's son Milan is nearly a year old, and the 36-year-old is juggling her music career, her baby and her coaching job on The Voice. The show returns on Feb. 24, and Shakira will be back to replace Christina Aguilera. This season, she'll be coaching as the sole female alongside Usher, sexiest man alive Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.
Her career has taught her how to deal when put in positions where she's working with mostly men. She said, "Dealing with boys at work and being the only girl can be challenging. I have my insecurities, but I've learned I have to be a good sport. I have to be able to take certain jokes and not take them personally. There are jokes made almost every second of the day. I had to develop a tough hide."
Although Shakira finds herself working with men often, she's also happy working with women. According to Billboard, her new single with singer Rihanna, "Can't Remember to Forget You," will be out on Jan. 13. Shakira's new album is expected out by spring.
