Madonna's parenting skills come under fire

There's no doubt it can be tough being a highly successful celebrity as well as a mom, but Madonna has recently been criticized about the latter.

The "Like a Virgin" hit maker's parenting skills have come under fire after she posted a picture of her teenage son and his friends with bottles of alcohol.

The 55-year-old star took to her Instagram account to share pictures of her 13-year-old son Rocco Ritchie, who was accompanied by two friends and three bottles of alcohol. The mom of four captioned the rather inappropriate image, "The party has just begun! Bring it! 2014 (sic)."

According to the Daily Mail, Madge is enjoying a holiday with her family in the lavish ski resort Valentino's Chalet Gifferhorn, Gstaad, Switzerland, where the legal drinking age is as young as 16.

Fans were angry with Madonna for glorifying alcohol, and the picture has received a lot of backlash.

However, the "Sorry" singer has hit back at critics, claiming that while her son may be holding the alcohol, there is no evidence of him actually drinking it. Madonna told her Instagram followers, "No one was drinking we were just having fun! Calm down and get a sense of humor! Don't start the year off with judgement! (sic)"

The Material Girl is juggling a successful music career and raising four children: Lourdes, 17, Rocco, 13, and adopted children David Banda and Mercy James, both age 8. But she has admitted her parenting skills occasionally need improvement and that she could benefit from being a tougher mother.

Madonna previously told the Today Show, "I'm probably not as tough as I should be. I think I need to be maybe tougher."
