Their One Argument Revealed
Portia DeRossi and Ellen DeGeneres are not separating, despite reports in one tabloid. Here's why.
Here's one rumor we are so glad to be able to put to bed: Ellen DeGeneres and Portia DeRossi, easily one of our favorite hot Hollywood couples, are not on the rocks and are definitely not splitting up.
Star magazine recently printed a story claiming the couple is on the verge of a breakup because DeGeneres is controlling and clingy.
"Ellen is paranoid that Portia will leave, so she makes sure to always have an eye on her," a source allegedly told the mag. "When they are out in public, there's a rule between them that Portia is to always hold Ellen's hand, so it's clear to everyone who she belongs to."
DeGeneres found the piece offensive enough that she addressed it during her opening monologue today.
"There's not one ounce of truth to any of it," she said. "I'm very happily married. In fact, the only thing we ever argue about is who loves who more," she joked. "That is all. It really is true. And we argue if we'd let a kangaroo carry us around in its pouch for a year. I would. She wouldn't. She'll change her mind. Who wouldn't want to be in the pouch of a kangaroo for a year? Hopping around. And she's like 'no,' but anyway."
"I know they have to fill a magazine every issue, every week, but I don't know how they can print lies like that," she continued. "And it's tricky because they quote 'a reliable source' or a 'good friend'... If they want to make it more believable they should at least say 'Portia and Ellen's marriage crumbles,' according to a terrible, terrible friend."
