One step closer to Oscar gold

On Wednesday, the Screen Actors Guild announced the nominees for the 20th Annual SAG Awards. 12 Years a Slave led the charge as the most-nominated film, while Breaking Bad ruled TV.

12 Years a Slave

The Screen Actors Guild gave 12 Years a Slave the most film nominations for this year's show. The Steve McQueen drama scored four nods, including the most coveted: Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. The film's stars earned individual honors for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role (Michael Fassbender) and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role (Lupita Nyong'o).

On the television side of things, Breaking Bad is the one to beat. After wrapping its five-season run, it's poised to dominate the ceremony. Like 12 Years a Slave, it earned four nominations, including Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. Headliner Bryan Cranston is up for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series, while Anna Gunn received a nod for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series. The series was also nominated for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series.

Other notable nominees include Lee Daniel's The Butler, which snagged spots in several major categories, including Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for Oprah Winfrey.
