Elyse Levesque Joins The Show
The Originals is adding one more supernatural to its show. Elyse Levesque has been cast as a new witch in town named Genevieve.
The witches on The Originals are about to get some much needed spice, thanks to a mysterious new character named Genevieve who is about to join the New Orleans crowd.
When we last saw The Originals, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) decided to share his reign with Marcel as equals. But in an episode saturated with the theme of discovered secrets, Marcel and Rebekah (Claire Holt) are keeping one to themselves. Could the introduction of a new character lead to answers?
Genevieve, who will be played by SGU Stargate Universe and Smallville vet Elyse Levesque, will first appear on the show in Episode 13. According to TVLine, Genevieve has quite the hidden agenda and some unfinished business with the new on-again couple Marcel and Rebekah. Rumors are already flying that she knows something about the secret the two share, which was hinted at in the midseason finale last week.
We also suspect she'll shake up the witch hierarchy. Davina might not be as safe as she thinks now that she knows Agnus is dead. One theory about Genevieve is that she'll fill the void as an elder witch who is able to complete the Harvest ritual.
Others speculate Genevieve could have an agenda of her own — one that doesn't involve completing the ritual as much as it involves a past grievance she has returned to correct. After all the revenge drama on The Vampire Diaries, we can't help but wonder if The Originals will follow suit in its own way and introduce a little more vengeance drama into its story line. Not that Klaus' feelings of being constantly wronged aren't enough.
One thing we do know for sure: Genevieve's story line on the show will be anything but simple and easy. We feel pretty confident saying the changes in New Orleans will not bring peaceful things.
The Originals returns Tuesday, Jan. 14, on The CW.
What do you think Genevieve's purpose will be on the show?
