A Scary Situation For The Star
No one wants to wake up at night to thieves burglarizing their home. That's exactly what happened to Keri Russell in New York on Wednesday.
It was a scary morning for The Americans actress Keri Russell who was the victim of a burglary on Wednesday. The 37-year-old star was sleeping in her Brooklyn, New York, brownstone when around 3 a.m., she heard footsteps on the floor above her.
Russell also heard voices and that's when she went to investigate the situation. She discovered that her front door and living room window on the second floor were open.
According to the New York Daily News, police believe that the thieves entered through an unlocked living room window. Some of the former Felicity star's property was stolen including a laptop, a pair of earrings, a Filson handbag and a necklace.
The good news is that the intruders were caught later in the morning at approximately 5:20 a.m. after they broke into a second home in the area. The 70-year-old resident saw the burglars flee from the scene and called police.
The alleged thieves are 50-year-old Ronald Swindell and his 19-year-old nephew Steffon Swindell. The elder Swindell was nabbed by the NYPD with a bag containing some of the stolen items from both homes.
The men were charged today with burglary and criminal possession of stolen property. Ronald Swindell has been charged with burglary multiple times before and he just finished a prison sentence two weeks ago.
Fortunately, the FX star and her family are safe thanks to the swift work of New York City's finest.
