Friends Boycott Her B-Day Parties
Tori Spelling's Hollywood friends have started to avoid her and her kids' birthday parties because she was using them to get footage for her reality show.
Tori Spelling has been abandoned by her friends in Hollywood because they realized the starlet was filming during her children's birthday parties. The actress was actually using the footage for her reality show without her pals' prior knowledge.
Upon showing up at Spelling's famous big birthday bashes for the kids, her friends were greeted by a required signing of a waiver that stated they were being filmed by a camera crew. Attendees were told that the scenes filmed could be used on Spelling's former show Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Home, RadarOnline reported.
"It's no secret that Tori throws her kids over-the-top birthday parties," a source told RadarOnline. "She would invite celebrity friends like Lisa Rinna, Brooke Burke-Charvet, Ali Landry — even Ru Paul — except she wouldn't tell them and other guests that they were filming."
Spelling wouldn't mention anything about filming on her party invitations, but would surprise guests with the waivers when they arrived at the door. "Few [guests] were given a heads-up before the event and they would be blindsided upon arrival," the source added.
To top it off, RadarOnline said that the parties were usually paid for by a sponsor and all guests were required to pose for pictures with whatever the sponsor's product was. "It was just tacky to ask a guest at the party, who happened to be a celebrity, to pose in a staged photo with various products," the insider said.
Of course, after so many of these parties, Spelling's famous pals began skipping out on her events and hardly anyone was showing up anymore whenever she had one of these soirees.
The resulting low celebrity turnout at Spelling's parties "absolutely impacted the decision for Oxygen to cancel her reality show," another source revealed.
Spelling was also caught in the act when she staged paparazzi photos during a family outing at a farm in Woodland Hills. "Tori and Dean posed in a pumpkin patch, on a carousel, hay bales, wherever the photographer told them to go," an insider revealed.
Turns out, Spelling stages these photo ops to earn extra cash because she and McDermott have been struggling financially for some time. The cancellation of their reality show has certainly added even more stress to their situation.
