For Reals This Time
Kelly Clarkson hinted a week ago that there may be a baby on the way. But today, she confirmed her husband gave her the only present she wanted for Christmas.
Just a week after starting her own rumors that she was expecting a baby, Kelly Clarkson confirms she and her new husband Brandon Blackstock are planning to welcome their very own bundle of joy.
Clarkson confirmed the news through Twitter on Tuesday.
The American Idol winner and Blackstock have been through a whirlwind romance, and were married in mid-October. She appeared on the Tonight Show With Jay Leno and told him the couple were trying their very hardest to get pregnant by Christmas.
"[We want a baby] like now! Practice makes perfect! We do, we do. We're trying, trying, trying," Clarkson said at the time, via Us Weekly.
Leno responded quickly by asking Clarkson if she was perhaps already pregnant. She replied, "What are you saying?"
"I always get this — stars that come and go, 'I'm thinking about having a baby,' and then the next week they go on Ellen and announce it there," Leno explained. "So, I'm asking you, are you pregnant? Remember, you are under oath!"
"We are not announcing anything right now," she answered.
While at the time, the answer seemed like a coy attempt to make news, it looks like it may have had some truth to it. Clarkson had added at the time that if they didn't get pregnant it wasn't for a lack of trying, because the two were trying "like rabbits." The child will be Clarkson and Blackstock's first together, although Blackstock does have children from a previous relationship.
Before they were even married, Clarkson told Access Hollywood she was already thinking ahead to the baby.
"We're getting married soon — like really soon — and I already told him that when we're past the wedding, I want a baby," she said in early October. "I was like, 'That's my Christmas present that you can give me.'"
It looks like it will be a merry Christmas after all in the Blackstock household!
