Sundance Takes Horror International
Want to watch something scary on Halloween that isn't your typical TV show? Check out French import The Returned on Sundance this Thursday.
Are you looking for something really scary to watch on Halloween night? Then you might want to check out a French import that's premiering on the Sundance channel at 9/8c.
The Returned comes to the U.S. from France and features spooky scenes that take place in dark tunnels, with beautiful French waitresses being trailed home late at night by unknown creatures, as well as zombies that are indistinguishable from the humans they attack.
Here is the official synopsis of the series:
The Returned takes place in an idyllic French mountain town, where a seemingly random collection of people find themselves in a state of confusion as they attempt to return to their homes. What they don't know yet is that they have been dead for several years, and no one is expecting them back. As they struggle to reintegrate with their families and past lovers, buried secrets emerge and new mysteries develop as they grapple with a miraculous and sinister new reality. But it seems they are not the only ones to have returned from the dead. Their arrival coincides with a series of gruesome murders which bear a chilling resemblance to the work of a serial killer from the past.
Shot in French, the series is captioned in English but, if anything, the romantic language adds even more of an eerie quality to the show. If you're a fan of anything and everything horror-related, but like your scares to come with a little bit more quality and perhaps less guts and gore, then The Returned could be your cup of tea.
Check out the new series when it premieres on Sundance on Halloween night.
