She Takes The Lead On DWTS
Amber Riley proved she can dance on the first episode of Season 17 of Dancing With the Stars. Will she be able to keep her lead all season long?
With the new season officially underway, a star has already emerged after only one episode of Dancing With the Stars. Glee's Amber Riley not only dazzled the audience, but wowed the judges with her cha-cha with pro partner Derek Hough.
She boldly told Us Weekly, "Glee is more grueling [than] DWTS. Trust me."
While she may think the first week was a piece of cake, Hough was quick to correct her.
"Ask her again in a few weeks," he said with a laugh. "DWTS is live and it's one take, so this is eventually going to be harder."
The 27-year-old does admit that the Fox show is taped and that if she messes up, there is always another opportunity to do the number again.
She said, "On Glee, there's cutaways, a take two...11 other people distracting your bad dancing. If you forget something, they can edit it out."
Her Glee castmates were also there to show their support for Riley. Cameras flashed several times to Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Ashley Fink, Dianna Agron and Chris Colfer in the audience cheering and applauding loudly after her performance.
"[Seeing them] gave me a lot of energy because my whole, entire family was out there also," she said. "They were in front of me [while I danced]. I asked them not to sit there and they did anyway!"
Riley better get ready because she has the jive next week, a notoriously fast-paced dance. Even with her judges' score of 27 out of 30 points, she's going to have to prove that she's the front-runner.
Hough warned, "I'm going to whoop her a** now!"
