You always know you will be surprised at the MTV Video Music Awards, but you never know if that will be a good thing or a bad thing. For the 2013 awards show, the answer is... both! So who created the most shocking moments?
The most talked-about moment of the night will likely be Justin Timberlake's performance. Surprisingly, the *NSYNC reunion may not be as talked about as JT. That's because the reunion was only seconds long, while Timberlake sang pretty much every single he's had in the last few years.
Comedian Kevin Hart spoke a few times at the awards, presumably to fill time, and he commented on the performance.
"I know *NSYNC was p***ed off because he only let them sing one song," Hart said. "They were out of shape, too."
Some of the most notable moments at the show happened when celebrities didn't know they were being filmed.
Many of the movie and music stars who are under 25 have at one point dated one another. The MTV VMAs offered up some very awkward moments for all the exes who were in the same room together.
Taylor Swift may have won the award for best revenge on an ex on Sunday. Not only was she up for two awards for her song "I Knew You Were Trouble," a song she has said is about Harry Styles, but she got back at Styles in one of the best ways possible.
As Styles was up onstage with One Direction, presenting the award for Best Pop Video, the camera panned to Swift and she gave a look — the kind of look that can only mean the two have not remained friends. But it looks like Swift did more than just give a look. A Vine video posted online by user Herbie shows that as Styles was speaking, Swift mouthed the words "Shut the f*** up."
When Swift got up later to accept an award, the camera zoomed to One Direction, but Styles kept his mouth shut.
Miley Cyrus' performance will likely be one of the most talked-about moments of this year's VMAs, but that doesn't mean it's a good thing. Cyrus came onstage in a bear-covered bathing suit with a whole bunch of people-sized teddy bears. There is a good chance the performance will be in many people's nightmares tonight. However, the performance ended up being entertaining and was definitely not Cyrus' worst.
Members of Generation X and Y may have been more shocked than others when watching this year's VMAs. There were plenty of performers from their generation, but many of them had aged. The members of *NSYNC were showing their age (even though most of them are only in their early to mid-30s), and Lil' Kim is a musician people may be talking about tomorrow. Not only had she obviously gained weight since last appearing in public, but it appears she also has had some significant plastic surgery.
All in all, there were plenty of shocking moments at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards that many people will likely be talking about for years to come.
