It's a Happy Ending for actress Elisha Cuthbert, who wed NHL star Dion Phaneuf on Saturday on Prince Edward Island, Canada. After dating for five years, the Canadian star and her hockey player husband were married at the St. James Catholic Church in Summerfield.
The National Post reported that more than 300 guests were in attendance, while Toronto Star reporter Rosie DiManno tweeted from the church about the fashions.
She wrote, "Bridesmaids in pale pink fishtail gowns... and there's the bride, delivered in black Camaro convertible, top up..."
DiManno continued, "Elisha turns to wave at spectators, looks gorgeous."
The inside of the church was decorated with maple saplings as a nod to the couple's Canadian heritage and Phaneuf's team, the Toronto Maple Leafs.
According to the Toronto Star, the location was deeply rooted in history for the duo. They often spent their summer vacations on the island, and their engagement happened last September at a local restaurant, New Glasgow Lobster.
The 30-year-old talked about their love for the island to the National Post back in 2008: "It's such a quiet place that we can be ourselves and not get bothered too much and have a real summer away from the hustle and bustle of our lives."
As for the residents of the eastern Canadian island, many were impressed by the big celebrity wedding, including the reverend marrying Cuthbert and Phaneuf.
He told the Post before the wedding, "It's a big wedding. Probably the biggest I've ever done in my 46 years, as far as the celebrity part of it goes."
The reception was held at Phaneuf's waterfront estate in New London.
As for the vintage Camero SS that Cuthbert drove up in? CTV is reporting that it was a wedding gift from the bride to her groom.
Now, that's a nice gift!
