DéJà Vu All Over Again
After two decades of marriage, it looks like the Cyruses will be calling it quits. But this isn't the first time they've traveled down this road.
It has been a tough couple of years for the Cyrus family. Less than three years after Billy Ray Cyrus filed for divorce from his wife, and then changed his mind, it looks like she has turned the tables.
Tish Cyrus filed for divorce Thursday from Billy Ray Cyrus.
"This is a personal matter and we are working to find a resolution that is in the best interest of our family. We ask that you respect our privacy at this time," she told People.
Billy Ray Cyrus released his own statement after they announced the impending split.
"This is a personal matter and we are doing what is in the best interest of our family," he told the magazine. "We ask that you respect our privacy at this time."
Billy Ray Cyrus filed for divorce in October 2010, but later changed his mind. He appeared on The View five months after he initially filed to announce the couple was giving it another try.
"I want to put my family back together," Billy Ray said at the time.
Tish Cyrus also commented after the reconciliation. According to People, the comment came through her Facebook page.
"Big thanks to all of our family, friends, and fans who have kept us in their thoughts and prayers," she said in 2010. "Our family weathered a huge storm and I feel we are stronger than we have ever been."
In the past 2½ years, something has gone wrong in their marriage, and the clues may have been there the whole time. In May, when asked how their marriage was holding up, Billy Ray gave a cryptic answer.
"We've both been very busy in pursuit of different things we have going on," he told People. "We're taking it one day at a time."
Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus have five children, including Miley Cyrus, and Tish is reportedly asking for primary custody of their 13-year-old daughter, Noah. She is also asking for spousal support from Billy Ray.
