Hi! My name is Melanie Biehle, and I’m the writer, graphic designer, and photographer of Inward Facing Girl. In the summer of 2012, I left my job as a behavioral research manager to start my own content marketing and social media strategy + creative services consulting business, genuineMIX. I published Blog with Purpose in March 2013.
After spending my days writing reports for movie studios to help them edit and market their films, as well as optioning my own romantic comedy screenplay that wound up in “development hell,” I didn’t write creatively for a very long time. I started my blog in 2009 as a way to ease myself back into writing again. I never thought that my blog would be anything more than a writing exercise, much less that it would become such a huge part of my creative life and career.
Now I write about contemporary art, photography, design, travel, business, and life in Seattle with the Adventure Club (me, my awesome husband, and our hilarious two-year-old son) five days a week, Monday through Friday.
I’ve always been drawn to creative fields, and am very grateful to have had the opportunity to create my own professional life. genuineMIX allows me to connect with other creative companies, business owners, and bloggers and use my educational background and professional expertise to help them brand and market their products and services. I provide social media, content marketing, and branding consultations, as well as graphic design services.
I have a Master’s degree in psychology and nearly 15 years of marketing, research, and project management experience, much of it in entertainment and technology. I’ve worked with major motion picture studios including Paramount, WarnerBros.,20th Century Fox, and Universal, as well as technology leaders like Microsoft and Amazon. I’ve also held positions in the nonprofit, pharmaceutical, and health care sectors.
My writing, photography, and graphic design have been featured on The Huffington Post, Sunset Magazine, Decor8, SF Girl by Bay, UPPERCASE, Not Martha, The Jealous Curator, Get Born, and more. I also sell some of my photography and artwork at Society6.
P.S. My mom taught me that being persistent pays off. Thanks, Mom!
