I am a longtime freelance writer, having written numerous feature articles and columns in Texas publications such as the Dallas Morning News over the past 20 years. I have a Home Economics Journalism degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and a lot of my articles have dealt with home/garden and children/family, so I guess I could say I'm one of the few people who actually work in their degree field! I am a newspaper junkie, not only writing for them, but one of my top five pastimes is drinking coffee while reading the morning paper. Unfortunately, less and less people feel the way I do about newspapers, and I realized that if my work is going to get read, I’d better jump into websites and blogging.
I have two daughters, ages 13 and 17. One is into sports, guitar, piano, singing, Girl Scouts, and fighting global warming; the other is into dance, musical theatre, sleeping as late as possible, and trying to complete parent-taught Driver's Ed in her minimal free time. My husband and two dogs (a Cavachon named Luke and an "adopted senior" toy poodle named Ben Arffleck) round out our crazy household. I hope you enjoy my blog, uncoolmom.com. Please check it out!
