Since 2005 I've been blogging on politics and parenting for The Huffington Post. I am also an award-winning journalist whose articles and essays have appeared in the Los Angeles Times Sunday magazine, Salon, Ladies’ Home Journal, Family Circle, Health, and Los Angeles magazine, among numerous other publications. I am a contributor to the 2008 Seal Press anthology, “The Maternal Is Political: Women Writers at the Intersection of Motherhood and Social Change,” edited by Shari MacDonald Strong. My essays have also appeared in the two bestselling collections, “Mothers Who Think: Tales of Real-Life Parenthood,” and “A Cup of Comfort for Mothers and Daughters.” I am currently working on a memoir about my brain-damaged mother.
Since 2004, I have been an instructor in the highly acclaimed Writers Program at UCLA Extension.
